| WRDC (Enterprise Trust) Ltd (called 'The Wigtown Rural Development Company' until July 2002) was set up in 1983 as a local provider of business advice and funding to
businesses within the Wigtown District by means of a joint agreement involving Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council, Wigtown District Council, the Scottish Development Agency and interested sponsors from the private sector.
The main activity of the Company is the provision of low cost loan funding to existing and potential business people in the District and in so doing act as a catalyst in funding small businesses in an area where risk finance is not always easy to obtain. During the Company's existence a wide range of business sectors have been funded some of which have been unable to secure funding elsewhere being outside the remit of other agencies. In August 2007 WRDC (Enterprise Trust) Ltd opened the WRDC Business Centre in Newton Stewart. From here WRDC offer furnished office space and meeting facilities to businesses.
