WRDC (Enterprise Trust) Ltd (called 'The Wigtown Rural Development Company' until July 2002) was set up in 1983 as a local provider of business advice and funding to businesses within the Wigtown District by means of a joint agreement involving Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council, Wigtown District Council, the Scottish Development Agency and interested sponsors from the private sector.

 

The main activity of the Company is the provision of low cost loan funding to existing and start-up businesses within Wigtownshire.  In so doing WRDC often acts as a catalyst to help businesses attract funding in an area where risk finance is not always easy to obtain.  During the Company's existence a wide range of business sectors have been funded some of which have been unable to secure funding elsewhere being outside the remit of other agencies.

 

In 1988 WRDC refurbished and opened Castle Court on Castle Street in Stranraer as rented office accommodation.  Find out more about it here.
